Renting a Storage Facility

I don't know how moving makes you feel, but if I had to guess, I would say stressed out! If you need to use a storage facility, here are a few suggestions to help in the selection process. Start by thinking about the size of unit you will need. Some common sizes are 5x5 (broom closet), 10x10 (sm bedroom) and 10x20 (one car garage). Other areas to consider would be the type of unit (drive-up access, indoor hallway & temperature control), location (ground level, multi-level), and door type (roll-up or swing). With a unit size, type, and location in mind, do a Google search for storage facilities in the zip code you desire to store. Check for availability, pricing, security and access hours that meet your expectations and then call.
Ask to speak with the property manager and ask questions about the rental process, availibility and specials being offered. If the responses leave you with a good first impression, schedule an appointment to tour the property. Evaluate the office, the employee(s) and the unit itself. All three should be inviting and clean! When the tour ends you should feel at ease and confident that this would be a safe and secure place to store your belongings.  If not, move on to the next one.
